Despite the vast array of designs of diamond engagement rings available, there are a variety of factors for choosing bespoke, or custom made diamond engagement rings. This is normally a personal reason such as the combination of more than one design element seen on another piece of jewelery. The ultimate ambition for such a ring might quite possibly be to provide a truly unique engagement ring that provides an individual styling for the wearer.

For surprise diamond engagement rings, men tend to take a great mental note of the designs that are indicated by their partners. Whilst window shopping, such designs are noted and stored away in preparation for the great surprise. Where designs might be provided with small or lesser quality diamonds, the aim is often to provide a larger, better quality ring, of similar design to that already seen, created to the exact diamond specifications. On the other hand, the opposite can be true. Some collection pieces of jewelery, valued at significant prices, can be used to base a style on that incorporates a less expensive diamond or diamonds. This means that a style that has been seen can be translated into a similar design that meets the budget and requirements of an individual.

The process of making bespoke diamond engagement rings involves a great deal of work and a long process that is broken down into several stages. We will base this on the modern day approach, used to create fluid designs that work beautifully to create complex flowing and intricate styles of diamond ring. Firstly there is the brief by the client. They describe the design they are looking for, and provide as much visual information as possible, such as a similar design seen, or elements of individual designs seen in similar engagement rings. Once the design elements have bee decided on, the next stage is to provide a quote for the work, with a breakdown of the stages involved. If this quote is acceptable, the design is then created using CAD software. Upon acceptance, and once signed off, the design is then created as a wax model by the computer using specialist rapid-prototyping equipment. This ensures an exact replica of the design on screen. Casting then follows in the metal of choice, followed by preparation, hallmarking, setting and finishing, oversimplified here, but indicated to give an idea of the many stages involved.

The result of the work is a beautifully designed, produced and presented piece of jewelery. Diamond engagement rings created in this way are not alarmingly more expensive and the materials involved can be changed to suit the budget of the client. Furthermore, this is by far the best way of taking a design that is merely a concept, to one that exists in reality. A beautiful bespoke engagement ring that is truly one of a kind.
