How much is it worth ?? I have a diamond to sell (brill ante) its an antique cut?
11 grain almost 4 carats from the 1920s. Can someone tell me its approx. value?
First, you need to know the color, cut & clarity. Also, exact size. This makes a huge difference in value. Is it set? In a ring? If so, what is the metal, yellow gold, white gold, platinum? This also makes a big difference. If I were you I would go to a qualified jewelry appraiser (certified gemologist) and tell them you need an appraisal for insurance purposes – don’t tell them you want to sell it because sometimes the appraisal will be lower & they may try to buy it from you – and they would want to sell it at a good profit. You may pay over $100 for the appraisal, but it is really worth it to find out the actual value of the stone. Also, if possible, I would NOT leave the diamond with the appraiser. Stay there, let them look, take measurements, put it under their light, etc, but never let it out of your sight. Most jewelers & appraisers are perfectly honest but, I have heard horror stories of stones being switched (happened to a friend of mine’s elderly aunt). Hope this helps.
