Would it be offensive to melt down an ex’s diamond necklace to use for our engagement ring?

I have a diamond necklace from an ex I never got around to selling. I am having a hard time knowing what to say about what I want as far as engagement rings go, and although I want something beautiful I don’t want my husband to be to spend too much on it you know? Its hard because I want both. But anyway, would it be wrong to suggest this as an idea to make the ring more affordable but still pretty? The necklace has 3 good size diamonds and 6 diamond bezel things. I am pretty sure my ex got it at a pawn shop!
I just realized its probably ridiculous to even think of that. I will just have to find something I like that doesn’t cost too much! lol…

Thats weird and creepy. I dont care how much it saves you. Are you really going to suggest this to your bf? Omg, id be so mad if my husband suggested that. I’d rather go ringless than wear a tainted one.
