Can I buy a diamond engagement ring for an anniversary?

I want to purchase my girlfriend a diamond ring but its not an engagement ring. A ring just to commemorate our 1 year anniversery and I wasnt sure if buying a ring that is classified as “engagment” is ok? When I went to the jewelry store I found a ring I liked that had 3 stones 1 carat but it was classified as an engagement ring…. Is it still ok to Buy this ring? Thanks for any info. these 3 stone rings really are known for wedding anniversary. I wouldn’t choose one of those. To avoid the whole ‘ring-dilemma’ why not choose a necklace or bracelet. With rings there is always the added problem to get the right size as well.
