How do tension engagement rings stay in tact? ?

Doing research, I think these rings are really cool, but they make me nervous. How do the diamonds stay on them?

They are called tension settings because they are held in by each other and of course the prongs around them. If you’ve seen the rings in person, it’s clear that the quad setting princess cut diamonds are held in by 4 prongs….and by each other. I wouldn’t suggest them, yes they may be popular b/c they are a cheaper way to get a bigger ring…but they can have many issues. When I worked in jewelry we had women come in a lot saying that they knocked their ring pretty hard on accident and it loosened the diamonds. I personally have a tension set band (two rows held in by each other) and have lost a diamond out of it…and in turn the others got loose. Thank goodness I worked at a jewelry store and could have them fix it right away.
I know a lot of women have tension set rings and have had no problems, but coming from working in the store…I know how they’re made and what they go through…and how unreliable they are.
But if you like one, then go for it! Most times you’ll have good luck with them but I’d never get an engagement ring/wedding ring tension set after I worked in jewelry and saw the issues they have.
