I have been looking all over for the right engagement ring and finally found one in mu budget that I think it big and of great quality, can you give me feedback on this?

Princess Cut
.82 Carat
J Color
IF clarity
GIA certified

I got a price of $2600

I looked at it for an hour under the magnifyer and naked eye and it really did look good to me. Please give me your opinions
It is A diamond broker and my father knows him so for the most part I trust him…. Not a fancy store but you can get the most for your money…. as far as size goes I think that a .82 looked plenty big..I would rather have a clear stone than a large low quality stone. As for one of the answers on the J color, I am mounting it in a thin tiffany style white gold band, do you think this will turn out OK? if this is my price range is this the way to go?

Speaking as someone who sells jewelry, it sounds good. EXCEPT, are you going to mount the stone in white gold or platinum? In that case, the J color rating is going to be a drawback. It’s going to look yellow against the white gold. Size and clarity wise, good job! Good job too on the GIA cert!
Additional: Budget, trust in the jeweler, and quality of the stone are ALL important. The stone, at 7/8 of a carat, is a good size. Especially in a solitaire mounting. If she is determined to have something even bigger later, you can always add to the mounting without changing an exceptionally clear center stone! As far as the color goes, ask the jeweler to walk outside into natural lighting with you. Take the stone and a white piece of paper. See how it looks in natural lighting against the white background.
