Should I want a traditional diamond engagement ring or go for something more personally meaningful & different
My boyfriend hints that he wants to marry me. The feeling is mutual. I’ve never been one to follow tradition blindly. I never had the desire to have a big diamond ring on my finger, but I would like a special engagement ring and I would like it to be a surprise. I am a gemini (was born in June), love the colors blue and green, am environmentally conscious (no blood-diamonds for me!) Any suggestions on non-traditional engagement ring styles and how can I let my boyfriend know what I’d like – and still be surprised when he proposes? I want it all!
To begin with, just because it’s a diamond doesn’t mean it’s a “blood diamond” and traditional doesn’t mean it’s not personally meaningful.
Only you can decide what you want on your finger for the rest of your life. I work with my hands and absolutely love Art Deco settings so diamonds just weren’t an option that made sense for me. My ring is white and blue sapphires. I wanted to keep it pretty nuetral design wise so I wouldn’t have to worry about it clashing with anything later on.
