Glitter is used a great deal in crafts & schools. Is glitter harmful to the lungs as asbestos is?

Martha Stewart has a new book GLITTER. When she decorates with glitter, she never wears a mask. I want to know if any research has been done to see if GLITTER can damage the lungs–especially of children.

I saw on her April Fools Day show that she glittered an entire chair! Wow! But most glitter is plastic, so it probably won’t harm you. alot of Martha’s glitter, however, is German glass glitter, and no, you really shouldn’t breathe it. Ordinary store bought glitter shouldn’t be a real problem, even for kids.
