The plans have all been made and everyone is crossing their fingers that all will go as planned on the big day. Anytime before the wedding, from a few months to a few weeks, is an acceptable time to have the bridal shower. Typically the shower used to be for the bride and her female relatives and friends, however now there are ‘Jack and Jill’ showers that both the bride and groom along with their male and female relatives and friends can attend. The shower can be held at the home of a friend or relative or it can be in a restaurant. Basically anywhere that accommodates the number of people who are invited. Showers are typically given by a close friend of the family or co-workers or the bridesmaids. It is a time to relax, have fun, and forget the wedding jitters for a little while.

Their are games to play and refreshments are served. One quite popular game that is loads of fun is splitting the guests into groups of three, giving each team 4 rolls of white toilet paper, and choosing one of the three to be the bride. The groups are then given 20 minutes to design a wedding dress by wrapping the toilet tissue on the bride after which they are judged by the guests as to which one is the best. The best bride and her team win a prize. Another popular game is to have the guests fill out a paper with their wedding date [birth date if unmarried] as they arrive. The person with the date closest to the bride and groomÂ’s wedding date wins.

Another variation of a shower that is quite popular is a lingerie party where all the guests bring the bride an item of lingerie. There is also a stripper who shows up during the party. This party is the counterpart to the menÂ’s stag party. It can be held at a bar or at the home of whomever is sponsoring the shower. Or perhaps the party where everyone brings a bottle of wine and the game is truth or dare. This party is quite popular today as the trends from the traditional bridal shower have changed somewhat during the last several years.

Regardless of which type of bridal shower is given the basic purpose remains the same. This shower is to present the bride and groom with items that they can use in the start of their new life together. Very few brides and grooms have the means to go out and totally furnish a home with every single item that they need to set up housekeeping. So as a gesture of love and friendship to the soon-to-be-married couple friends and family look forward to the bridal shower to help start the couple on their way to building a life together.

The future for men’s jewellery expansion looks brighter and brighter, no longer restricted to lapel badges and silk ties alone.

Many designer brands are responding to increasing demand for diversity in clothing accessories for men, there is a move out of the generic flavour, at last.

Finally men are getting more of a say about the clothing styles they buy and wear. Mixing and matching is an enjoyable exercise as the choice of colours goes beyond shades of grey.

Traditional lapel badges are now referred to as men’s brooches and popularity for bangles continues to surge.

A new era is evolving, an ideal environment for designers to incubate their ideas and watch them come to fruition

One name that is carving out a sizable niche in menswear clothing accessories is Vivienne Westwood. Her distinctive styling and bold approach mark a new creative direction.

Pendants: The red heart Orb pendant a fine piece of jewellery; it’s deliberate and consistent in style, not just being different for the sake of it. Proportionately combining traditional materials like enamel and Swarovski crystals set in Rhodium transforms it into a very contemporary form. With a generous chain and sturdy spring loaded clasp they’re sure to last a life time. And they can easily be match with a pair of red heart Orb cufflinks.

Then there is the thoughtful piece of brown English Oak wood set in a solid circular piece of Rhodium and, justly named “Touch Wood Pendant” There are many more to comment on, but lets not be greedy.

Brooches; The Brightly Coloured, Perspex brooches; Reminiscent of the colours used in Pueblo style architecture. To wear on your lapel and you’ll be making a bold statement. They don’t resemble the traditional insignia badge worn by members of associations or clubs

Cufflinks: The Cube cufflinks by Ian Flaherty, sporting 80 Swarovski Crystals a piece and recently voted one of the best gifts for Father’s day by Victoria Gray of the Sunday Express Magazine. Precision equalled by quality and they’re made in England.

Another worthy name to note is Veritas Precious Metal Design; The “Icons Cufflink Collection”, featuring, Che Guevara, Sir Winston Churchill and Marilyn Monroe are brought to vibrant life, using sterling silver, enamel and Swarovski Crystals to create instantly recognisable forms. Veritas gifts have once again set the benchmark for style, quality and innovation in finely crafted jewellery. Made in limited quantities, so, value is retained for many years to come in the “Icons Collection”

Remember, every significant movement in art can be traced through the design of cufflinks. Jewellers like Cartier and Tiffany crafted work of art cufflinks in mother of pearl, crystal; precious stones…These famous fashion names establish designer cufflinks as the essential accessory for men.

London Badge and Button, an easy name to remember: They typify contemporary accessories. Since 1973 their apt designs have consistently met with market demand. Now at the cutting edge of laser technology and computer assisted modelling they’re in keeping with changing technology and this is reflected in their precision cufflinks.

But don’t forget your silk tie; otherwise the doorman may not let you into the club-house.

Bangles: If you want to see what’s available in the way of men’s then keep an eye on Vivienne Westwood, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Each piece of jewellery and cufflink mentioned is worthy of any collection.

Do you know of any light fixtures for ceiling fans that look like mini-chandeliers?

I need to have a ceiling fan in a room, otherwise there will be no airflow. However, it is the dining room of a fairly formal Victorian house. It really doesn’t have to hang far down. It would look nice with some crystal pendants or beading. I found one “fitter” by Emerson that I like. I am just wondering if there are others out there, because I can’t seem to find any!
I have looked at Home Depot, Lowe’s. Menard’s etc. I have even searched the internet. I am looking for a “fitter” that looks more like a chandelier not just four lights pointing down. The only one I have found so far looks like this:

l saw your question and l might be able to help you. l went on to ebay and found a Swarovaki Crystal Mini Chandelier Light Fixure. The price of it was $130.00 plus shipping. l’m new at this whole ebay thing, but l think you can lot on as a visitor. The time left is 22 hours to bid on it. Good Luck
