How much is my Lady Elgin Diamond watch worth?

Its very old (belonged to my grandmother…probably around the late 50′s maybe …early 60′s? it is 14k white gold with tiny diamonds around the round face it winds and the diamonds go down the band in a floral pattern then stop half way.

Hi! Elgin made so many styles that it’s difficult to tell from a description. There are many on ebay to get an idea and the total weight of the diamonds is what will determine its ultimate value. I’ve given you a variety of vintage examples as references. If you cannot find it I would just take it to a jeweler for an appraisal. Good luck!

I have a swarovski crystal set I normally wear jeans. Which type and color of top / sweater should I wear?

I recently got a brilliant cut classic Swarovski crystal set as a gift. I normally wear t-shirt and jeans. However, I cannot wear the set with them. Please suggest me the type and color of top/ sweater to set the set off. I want it in a way that it will look casual as well as classic / elegant. I have an Indian wheatish skin tone and I am 25 yrs of age.

Try a light pink turtle neck sweater with dark wash jeans and boots
and wear the crystals, it’ll look very nice.
by the way, Swarovski crystals are very nice, your lucky to have them.

9CT GOLD DIAMOND SAPPHIRE PENDANT & RING?

hi how much are a 9ct white gold ladies diamond & sapphire ring & pendant with chain worth????
there are about 33 white diamond in the pendant & there are 4 small & square cut sapphires . in the pendant and on the ring.

It depends on the quality. For diamonds, the value is determined by the cut, color, clarity, and carat of the gem. For instance, a diamond with a lot of inclusions, that was rather yellowish, that was poorly cut, or cut in an unfashionable cut, and was small would be worth much less than a blue-white diamond that had only a few small inclusions, that is cut in the most current style, and is bigger.

For sapphires, again, it depends on the same things. A deep blue sapphire is much more desirable than a pale blue one. Sapphires do come in different colors, but blue is the most common, by the way. Also, if it’s a star sapphire, then it shouldn’t be cut/faceted, but smoothed into a half dome shape called a cabochon. This will display its star to the best advantage.

You will have to take your pendant to a reputable jeweler or two, and get it appraised to learn its worth. Even if I was a reputable jeweler (I’m just a woman who likes gems, that’s why I know this stuff) I sure couldn’t appraise your item without being able to inspect it closely, under magnification.

What do people look for when buying jewellery?

Hello everyone. I’m a young women interested in starting the best Jewellery business EVER. I’m in the research stage and would like to know what people want & Deliver exceptional results. 9K gold, Sterling silver & silver/lead toned chains are the features enriched with Swarovski Crystals, Freshwater peals & exotic beads.

You are on the right track about using quality products in your designs. But you will have to narrow your market down. If you try to cater to what everyone wants then your market is too open and competition stiff.

Everyone has different tastes and you won’t be able to satisfy them all. So try to target the market that YOU would like to design your jewelry for.

As part of your market research you will need to know what is the profile of your typical customer (i.e. age, sex, location, interests, education, etc.)? In investigating your potential customers, you must consider who will wear your jewelry.

In finding the answers to these questions ask yourself: Who do you think would probably buy your jewelry, or who are you making your designs for? For example do you want to reach sophisticated, professionals? Young and funky? Everyday or party wear?

If you are using a lot of Swarovski and pearls what about bridal or prom jewelry?

Once you have identified who your customers are, or to whom your jewelry is appealing, you can then cater to the taste of this typical customer and seek the best ways to reach him or her.

The next questions now are: How do you plan to distribute your jewelry to your customers (i.e. craft shows, wholesale to retail outlets, specialty shops, your studio shop, holiday boutiques, party plan, website, etc.)? How will you inform customers about your jewelry?

Also in your market research you need to know what your competition is doing. You will learn more about what is selling where, to whom, and at what prices by carefully observing the competition. Once you have an idea of what you want to make, surf the net, attend as many shows, go to as many stores, and seek out as many other points of sale as you can for the same style of jewelry as you wish to market. Then ask yourself: Can customers easily get what you make from someone else, perhaps at a lower price than what you would have to charge to make a profit? Is your jewelry unique or is the market already saturated with the style of jewelry you want to make? Like I said earlier competition is stiff so your designs have to be unique!

How can I tone down a bright gold lipgloss?

The color of the lipgloss is “Honey” from Covergirl Wetslicks crystals. It is way too yellow for me, even though it was a “recommended” shade. My complexion is caramel toned.

O.K. what you have to do is get some light pink lip gloss and blend them together! It will work!

Mother Pearl Diamond

Mother Pearl Diamond

Mother of pearl is the iridescent substance called nacre, found on the inside of some mollusks. The word nacre comes from the Arab word naqqarah which means shell. It has been used for ornament, decoration and jewelry since 3000 B.C.E. Tombs have been discovered on the sites of ancient Mesopotamia in the Middle East that contained items made of mother of pearl. In some ancient cultures it was valued more than pearls. Before the 19th century, Japanese shell divers would discard any pearls found in the oysters they got, and keep the shell.

Ancient China also used mother of pearl for decorative inlay for various objects and jewelry. The Chinese powdered it and used it in medicines and prescribed it to lower blood pressure, as a cure for dizziness and as a heart medication. Native populations of South and North America also used mother of pearl for decoration and medicine.

In the Middle Ages in Europe, the main source of mother of pearl was the Persian Gulf. By the 16th century, this source had been depleted due to the huge demand. New sources were found in the Pacific. Areas in the Pacific such as The Solomon Islands and Tahiti were then plundered of their supply of nacre producing mollusks until the late 1880′s when France gained control of Tahiti and restricted it. By the early 20th century the area was no longer a source of nacre.

In America, mother of pearl had been used mostly as an inlay for furniture until the 19th century saw it used for buttons. Muscatine, Iowa became the center of pearl button manufacture, and ‘clammers’ fished the Mississippi and other rivers for the nacre producing fresh water mussels. The buttons would be formed by punching out round pieces of the mussel shell. Billions of pearl buttons were manufactured, but they were very labor intensive to produce. By the beginning of World War II, the pearl button industry shifted to the production of plastic buttons as they were less expensive to make.

Mother of pearl continues to be used as decoration for many items such as furniture, musical instruments, and jewelry. Modern mother of pearl comes from fresh water and salt water sources in Europe, Asia, The United States, Japan and Asia. Mother of pearl that comes from abalone shell is some of the most valuable. With its iridescence and beauty, this opal of the sea is still in demand and highly valued.

Well, in my eyes, the Seamaster Chronograph Ladies’ 600m is just a smaller version of male version, no any particular feature is shown. But overall, it will sure look nice on woman’s wrist for classic sporty look that is no second to any pieces.

Loose diamonds are commonly used for diamond jewelry manufacturing. They are widely used to embellish bracelets, rings, earrings, necklaces and yes – watches, too! The presence of a diamond in any piece of jewelry makes it significant, not only in value but also in style. A ladies diamond watch is no exception – it gives the wearer an element of class.

Hotel chain heiress and ultimate fashionista Paris Hilton has recently joined forces with Abazias, one of the biggest names in the diamond jewelry industry, to design her own signature collection of ladies diamond watches. The collection will be composed of 4 signature watches, made of genuine leather alligator straps and all of 1000 diamonds in each piece.

Priced a whopping $100,000 to $250,000, the Paris Hilton watches are today’s ‘it’ diamond watches. The most expensive among the four designs is the “Pink is Love” piece which happens to be her personal favorite as well. Brandishing a blush-pink alligator strap, this diamond watch contains in its design over 6 carats of pink diamonds, 6 sapphires and more than 3 carats of white diamonds. Meanwhile the “Canary” design substitutes yellow diamonds with the pink while the other 2 designs named “Cotton Candy” and “Snow White” features white diamonds exclusively.

For those with a more conservative bank account, there is no cause to fret. Paris Hilton also launched a substantially lower priced collection of fashion watches with the beginning price of only $29. Sans diamonds, this collection is definitely friendlier on the pocket! The ultimate fashion addict will be pleased to sport the Paris Hilton look with an elegant signature timepiece.

The difference between investing on diamond jewelry and a diamond watch is that the latter is a more functional piece. Simply put, a diamond watch is essential because it has another purpose on your body apart from the fact that it beautifies. Typically, the diamonds are embellished on the face of the watch. In some cases, loose diamonds are contained inside the watch, and can be moved about upon each movement of the wrist. This is an interesting diamond watch design that became popular in the 1990′s.

A diamond watch is a sound investment, as well as a remarkable gift. The status that it gives to the woman is inimitable because of its value and elegance. It can also be paired with just about anything in a woman’s wardrobe, just as diamond jewelry can also be worn with any type of clothing. Diamonds are the most versatile, graceful and enduring gems. No wonder they have been cited as a girl’s best friend! Paris Hilton can say Amen to that, indeed.
