Which would you prefer as your engagement rings – a big white diamond or colored gemstones? Although the diamonds are the most popular gems for wedding and engagement rings, a colored gemstone is gaining popularity for women who desire a more unique and a meaningful gesture for a bride to-be. The reasons behind it are definitely straightforward as some birthstones are semi-precious gems can potentially less pricey than traditional diamond rings. Also, choosing the right colored birthstone engagement ring associated with your bride’s birthday is one way to customize your personnel’s taste on the piece of jewelry that would be lifetime treasured.

There are many types of colored diamond that undergo naturally form like the white diamond. In fact, if you are lucky enough to buy a colored diamond there is better investment if you compared its value to white diamond. Some color diamonds are treated in lab to produce colorful hues that you see in topaz, rubies, sapphires and emerald that are affordable for average people. To use simulated gemstones for substitutions for colored diamonds that are highly expensive and not quite available like blue emerald or pink diamond will ease the price of the ring.

Overall, choosing the engagement ring for your special ones whether she likes a big bold diamond or colored birthstone ring basically depends on how the ring’s style may connect her lifestyles. If she is sensitive and passionate person, you may want to choose her birthstone that is big at the center with a lot of diamonds surrounding the center stone. If she had active lifestyles, more favorably you could buy her a sparkling diamond in the princess cut style. Therefore your love’s devotions that connect you two together would give a sign whether the perfect ring for her should be a big bold white diamond or her colored birthstone ring.

Diamond Setting Semi

I am looking for semi mounts with lab created diamonds?

I have a beautiful 2 carat round brilliant lab created diamond set in a classic Tiffany setting. I would like to find another setting to put the diamond in.

I would like the setting to have 6 -prongs so the diamond is secure. Also, I’d like the setting to have lab created diamonds (NOT CZ). Natural diamonds would defeat the purpose of having a large LC stone.

Can you please advise me as to where to find a semi mount like this?

Also, where do I take the ring to have it set? There are lots of jewelry stores around here, like Kays, Zales, etc. They don’t carry LC diamond, though. Would it be wrong to take it to a place like that to have it set?

While I was looking for an engagement ring with my fiancee on eBay, I found many LC rings and mountings.

I also suggest asking a local jeweler to see if they can order settings for you and lab-created diamonds. Most local jewelers will have catalogs for you to look through filled with charms, settings, etc. They should also have a catalog in which they can order a specific stone type.

Good luck.

White diamonds are produced by mines all over the world in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. With the rise in popularity of the colored diamonds the term White is misleading. A white diamond is considered to be totally colorless.

Color grading scales used by the internationally recognized laboratories (GIA & IGI for example), ranges from D which is totally colorless to Z which is a pale yellow or brown color. Brown diamonds darker than K color are usually described using their letter grade, and a descriptive phrase, for example M Faint Brown. Diamonds with more depth of color than Z color fall into the fancy color diamond range.

One thing that will remain a constant and that is that white diamonds are classic. The simple beauty of a white diamond is magnificent. There are so many jewelry possibilities that include the use of white diamonds. There are necklaces, bracelets, anklets, earrings, rings, and even toe rings and belly button rings. Nothing is off limits when displaying the sheer beauty of white diamonds.

Choosing a piece of jewelry is not always as simple as visiting the jeweler and choosing something that looks pretty under the glass. Diamonds are expensive and knowledge is needed to make a wise purchase that will retain or even increase in value over time. This means understanding how diamonds are classified.

There are the “4 C’s” of diamond classification and they stand for cut, color, clarity, and carat. Each has its own set of very precise rules when grading a diamond. The first is the cut of the diamond.

The act of polishing a diamond and creating flat facets in symmetrical arrangement brings out the diamond’s hidden beauty in dramatic fashion. There are mathematically proven algorithms involved in creating the perfect cut. When diamonds are cut properly they will enhance any piece of jewelry. They are stunning to look at, and when the sun catches them, they flash like miniature suns.

The next consideration in white diamonds is color. The color has its own scale ranging from D to Z. Diamonds appear white but often have tones of yellow or brown. The more these colors are apparent, the lower the quality and the lower the price of the diamond. It is most desirable to find a diamond that is close to the D rating.

Every diamond is going to have some imperfections. Nature rarely produces anything that is pure and that is why one of the reason man made diamonds are becoming so popular. Many of the man made diamonds are of a better quality than what can be found in nature. There are some cloudy spots in some diamonds and these can often be hidden by a high quality cut.

Finally, diamonds are classified by carat. This is the weight of the diamond. The larger the diamond, the more it costs if the other 3 C’s also fall in line. Jewelers must take into account the other 3 C’s of classification because two diamonds of equal carat can have drastically different prices based on the cut, clarity, and color.

Basket setting for round diamond earrings?

I just “traded up” my pair of diamond earrings, and the pair I got are in a “basket setting”. They have a lower profile, which is perfect for me because I wear them 24/7 (also b/c of the screw backs). Anyhow, they the tcw is .5 and I+, SI..originally $1899, but on sale for $737..plus my credit from upgrade. Was that a good deal? It seems too good to be true, and why isn’t basket setting popular anymore? They sparkle so much, and it’s nice that they don’t poke out far. I’m just weary b/c the sales lady seemed a tad “snakey”. So, any thoughts on basket setting?
Answer to Randi: That is how Brendan Diamonds/JC Keepsake does their earrings. At least an I. Is that bad? I figured it’s just I and that was good for earrings. Obviously, I didn’t do my homework. The store I go to in Ft. Collins closed, so I have to go to Cheyenne, WY to get them fixed (checked twice a year for warranty) so I’m stuck.

uuuuh, i’m confused.
